HOLLAND SENIOR CENTER
Minutes of meeting held on December 7, 2011

The meeting was called to order at 10:30 a.m. by chairman Sue Sanders

PRESENT:  Bruce Mahon, Lowell Nixon, Olive Nixon, Brad Noble and Susan Sanders.  Others: Senior Center Director Jane Benedetto, Outreach Worker Deborah Tierney, and Facility Manager Don Sanders.

ABSENT:  Jack Reed.

MINUTES:        Motion by Brad to accept the November 9, 2011, minutes was unanimously approved.

REPORTS
OUTREACH WORKER – Deb reported on November events and programs. > Valentine’s Party from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. with snacks and possible ballroom dancing entertainment; Thursday, February 23rd at 9:30 a.m. “Breakfast with Jane” featuring eggs, muffins and bacon, $2.00 donation, veterans will be honored and elementary schools children may sing; Tuesday, February 28th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Fran and Linda will conduct a cake decorating class, $2.00 donation.  Regular exercise classes continue as well as the blood pressure clinic on the third Wednesday.  We will be seeking donations through the Friends for our events as well as from vendors (restaurants, grocery stores, Wal-Mart, gifts, etc.)


FINANCIAL:  Brad Noble, Treasurer – Brad began by announcing his resignation as COA Treasurer effective December 31, 2011.  Two Treasurer’s reports were distributed.  October Treasurer’s report includes: Receipts: GSSSI $630.00, gifts $2,150.00.  Expenses: telephone $33.93, water testing $15.00, Deb Tierney – mileage $25.00, Core Fitness $60.00, trash pick-up $62.30, National Grid $100.13, printing/mailing of newsletter $147.09, Citizens Security $75.00, Eva Pittsinger for 8 classes $120.00, yard care $73.50, well monitoring $95.00, supplies $47.98, and salaries $1,963.80.  November Treasurer’s report includes: Receipts: GSSSI $630.00, gifts $380.00, Formula Grant $1,750.00.  Expenses: telephone $67.03, water testing $30.00, Don Sanders Serv-Safe renewal $110.00, trash pick-up $62.30, National Grid $129.40, Osterman Propane $454.73, training $196.20, Eva Pittsinger for 8 classes $240.00, yard care $36.75, well monitoring $95.00, lunch supplies $55.99, and salaries $1,897.30.  

FACILITY MANAGER:  Don reports that the pantry door frame and the exterior kitchen door frame need repair.  There is a GFCI outlet in the kitchen that needs to be replaced.  The fluorescent fixture in the pantry needs repair/replacement as new bulbs did not fix the problem.

OLD BUSINESS:  None.  

NEW BUSINESS:
  • Requests for use of the Senior Center were reviewed and approved.
Motion by Brad to adjourn the meeting at 11:35 a.m. was unanimously approved.
